Biography

Peter spent the first 8 years of his legal career as a trial attorney handling personal injury cases at Collins & Collins Attorneys. While there, he secured over ten million dollars in settlements and jury verdicts for injured plaintiffs. Peter's aptitude as a personal injury attorney has caused him to be recognized by Super Lawyers as an Upstate New York Rising Star for the past six years, from 2017-2022.

In December 2021, Peter joined the team at Bengart & DeMarco. He continues to handle personal injury cases, and has started taking on estate planning, divorce and custody, criminal defense, traffic court, landlord/tenant disputes, residential real estate, and general practice.

In addition to his full-time job, Peter taught a class as an adjunct professor in the Political Science Department at Buffalo State College for 6 years on civic engagement. Before arriving in Buffalo for law school, Peter served as a Combat Medic in the US Army from 2003-2008 with the 2-17th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Peter was stationed in Korea when his unit was selected to be retrained to do infantry missions in Iraq. Peter deployed with the unit to Iraq twice. During his time in the Army, Peter was awarded the Combat Medical Badge for treating casualties under fire, 3 Army Commendation Medals, an Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He was also recently awarded the New York State Medal for Merit in recognition of his military service.

After leaving the Army, Peter returned to Western New York and attended the University at Buffalo Law School, graduating Cum Laude in 2011, and receiving the prestigious Harry A. Rachlin Prize.

Peter owns an old home on the West Side of Buffalo, overlooking La Nova Pizzeria, with his wife and two children, spending most of his time off cleaning up after their German Rottweiler and 3 cats.
